IEEE Committee web meeting

The IEEE in 2030 Ad Hoc Committee, working on behalf of the IEEE Board of Directors, continues to make progress on the strategic objectives that emerged from the January 2015 Board retreat to create a nimble, flexible, forward-looking organization.

Regular, face-to-face meetings, punctuated by socialization with members of the Board as well as other volunteers and members, have resulted in valuable feedback. This feedback has continuously informed revisions of a potentially new governance structure for the IEEE. This effort was originally motivated by recognition from the IEEE Board of Directors at the January 2015 Board retreat that the current governing structure is not as effective or efficient as it could be, and change can help the organization as it moves toward the year 2030.

The IEEE in 2030 committee has received questions and additional feedback about our plans for communicating the proposed governance changes. We have reserved the following times for three live question and answer sessions with the IEEE Presidents:

  • Karen Bartleson, 2016 IEEE President-elect on Friday, 29 April 2016, from 9:00 p.m. ET to 10:00 p.m. ET (01:00 to 2:00 UTC-04)
  • Howard E. Michel, Ph.D., 2016 IEEE Past President on Wednesday, 11 May, from 7:00 p.m. ET to 8 p.m. ET (23:00 to 24:00 UTC-04)
  • Barry L. Shoop, Ph.D., P.E., 2016 IEEE President and CEO on Friday, 27 May, from 8:00 a.m. ET to 9:00 a.m. ET (12:00 to 13:00 UTC-04)

These will be open sessions, and all who are interested are encouraged to participate. The sessions will also be recorded, and posted to the web.

To participate, visit IEEE.tv during the session time. Remember to mark your calendar with the link. On the session date, when you reach the IEEE.tv homepage, click the red “On Air” banner. If you arrive before the stream has launched, click on the blue “Coming Soon” banner.

Once you reach the page with the live-stream video, click the “Ask a Question” tab to submit your question. Questions cannot be submitted ahead of time. Please submit your questions during the session time.

We look forward to a meaningful and thoughtful dialogue.

Sincerely,

Barry L. Shoop, Ph.D., P.E., 2016 IEEE President and CEO
